Premier Care Case Study with Joan Golding
Joan Golding contacted Premier Care in Bathing to inquire about getting a walk in bathtub for her home. Joan is a single mother with Lupus and was concerned about her safety while bathing. After meeting with Joan, Premier Care advised her on the best walk in tub for her health and her home. Take a look at how pleased Joan is with her decision to purchase a Walk in Bath from Premier Care in Bathing.
Dear Premier,
I am likely one of your younger customers and one of your happiest. I am a single mother of an 8 year old. There isn’t too much of my life and body that haven’t been affected by lupus. Prior to being disabled I had done a majority of the renovations on my home myself; needless to say I was reluctant to have to hire someone to install a new tub (I have high expectations).
Originally my plan was to replace the tub - no small feat considering the 800lb cast iron tub had been there for 70 years. But after discussions with my occupational therapist and physicians I started to look at something more accessible. 2-3 times a week I go for prescription hydrotherapy, it greatly improves my impaired circulation, decreases joint swelling and stiffness; and, works better than any painkiller. When I am to ill to get out I really miss the treatment.
It’s more difficult now but I can still get in and out of a regular tub, that likely won’t be the case in 10 years. Do I really want to renovate all over again? 8 years from now do I want my son worrying about his mom slipping around in the tub when he should be enjoying high school?
I got quotes from 2 walk-in tub companies and 2 independent contractors. Premier was by far the most expensive but they also seemed to be the most knowledgeable, had a superior product and better track record. They were also able to guarantee the price. An important consideration since most of my neighbors had their bathrooms done before mine and had horror stories about bargain renovations which ended costing more than a car. These are older houses and having done much of the previous work myself I know there are a lot of surprises. I also wanted to maintain the look of the original tile.
When Dan and Christine arrived I knew I had picked the right company. They were professional, congenial and went above and beyond the call of duty. They managed to restore and repair most of the original tile, matched moldings, repaired plaster and seamlessly repaired the floor to accommodate the smaller tub. There are few people I would still consider craftsmen and I was lucky enough to have two of them in my house for 3 days.
I should also mention how considerate they were as they did their best to accommodate my young son, dog and the side effects of the chemo drugs I take. All this occurred in my 750 square foot house and 22 square foot bathroom. Any construction is disruptive but they ensured that I was always able to move through the house safely and kept the mess to an absolute minimum, constantly cleaning as they went.
This is the most money I have ever spent beyond buying my house but the beautiful work, quality of the product and my health and safety are well worth the cost.
My son has a lot to handle with me being ill and I thought that he would be upset when we got a new tub to accommodate the illness. Instead, he’s thrilled and has shown all of his friends his super tub; even danced around happy that lupus stopped messing things up and gave us a nifty tub.
Everyone at your company has been genuinely pleasant, helpful and professional. I would recommend Premier to anyone.
Thanks!
Joan Golding
We recently followed up on Joan to make sure she was still enjoying her tub and here's what she said...
Dear Lisa,
Two weeks after I got the tub I ended up in Hospital with renal and respiratory failure. When I finally got out of ICU and back home I wouldn't have been able to function without the tub. I had personal care assistants who helped me use it at first and I am now o.k. in it by myself but there is no way I could use a regular tub (I am still using a walker etc.). The support handles that were installed to get in and out of the tub are well used for getting off the toilet as well.
I tell people that my new car is in the bathroom but the relief and the independence it gives me is worth every cent (not to mention the value of my house went up I'm sure).
Best!
J
